[Feature] Ego Moda Special Issue #34

The wait is over! Finally the new Spring 2012 issue of Ego Moda is out!! The magazine features several sections with members of Nao Nao Group working both collectively and as separate supporting members for editorials and trend forecasts; being able to do both of our favorite things: work together in a creative environment and meeting new people by collaborating with them.

One of the two covers of Ego Moda #34, Special Edition; done by Nao Nao Group!

We were very surprised when business manager and contributing writer Brenda Mercado approached us to do the main fashion editorial for this issue, which also promised one of the two alternative covers of this special edition that is dedicated mostly to hair and summer trends. The cover as you see it has practically no retouching, almost in ode to the formalist straight photography approach of the modernism period.

The editorial that sprung the picture, called A Touch of the 20's, is inspired by the style of the epoch, catering to both the elegant and classical, as well as the rebellious flapper; developing a story of an artist in the making, with the support of model and musician Gustavo Juarbe. We had the chance to team up yet again with Shirley, who by some strange fate of destiny is constantly crossing our paths. I love working with her, as she is so sweet and easy to collaborate with, fitting in clothes like a dream. Teaming up with us for the first time was the talented Ivan García, owner of the prestigious Beyond Salon. Also gracing the cover is a fabulous  dress by Harry Robles, whose designs are also present in the editorial, as well as those of John Dunn, Ghabriello Fernando, Heriberto Vazquez and Richard Cotto. Soon we will be able to show you some of the shots, as well as talk about the creative direction and inspirations of this session, which was super fun to shoot!

As I mentioned earlier, we actually have several features in this issue. We had the opportunity to shoot  Colors of Spring, featuring the lovely Leslie Ann Ramos @ Unica in a resort inspired fashion editorial. For the second time around, Aisha comes back with her colour casting trends section featuring Seafoam. Also new to us, both Aisha and Rafael collaborated with Francisco Parra in the Fashionable Curves section, which I hope sometime to be able to shoot.

The alternative cover of this special edition features the very lovely Alejandra Rosario, who you might remember from our first ever Beach Beauties section. The blue dress is by up-coming designer and collaborator Ruscherly Huyke, with whom we have had the pleasure to work with in two previous editorials. Did we also mention she will present her new collection tomorrow? Talk about perfect timing!

Overall this has been a pretty exciting issue to participate in. I am very glad we landed the fashion editorials, which are the ones I think we enjoy doing the most as a team (even though I also love Beauty). We also have great company with both very solid and different beauty trend editorials. I think the mix of styles and visions are very distinctly marked, so there is definitely something for everyone. We can't wait to finally be able to showcase what we did! In the meantime, you may find Ego in your local Walgreens, Walmart & Kmart.
