Their irreverent and bold style has led to the design duo
known as The Blonds, capturing the attention of 'fashionistas' and stars.
During the next edition of PRHFW to be held from 20 to 22
September, the duo, composed of David and Phillipe Blond-will bring their 2013
spring collection to the delight of those who follow the world of fashion and
entertainment.
"The Blonds fashion is very special and very glamorous
especially for actresses and personalities. Their runways go beyond an exhibition;
it’s a real 'show'. We are excited because they are international designers that
come directly from the ending of New York Fashion Week and also one of them (Phillipe) is Puerto Rican. They truly complement our designers who are part of
our event, "said Caridad Fernandez, president of PRHFW.
The daring style that characterizes The Blonds creations, include
sequins, diamonds, Swarovski crystal, chains, spikes and other extravagant
details, have attracted the attention of those seeking to be the focus of
attention.
On an interview done by Liz Sandra Santiago for El Nuevo Día
(local newspaper), with Phillipe Blond on how the designing duo start out in
the fashion industry and their launch to fame.
What led you to be called The Blonds?
Our vision of The Blonds is a glamorous girl in the city of New York. The city
has always been an inspiration and as we walked through the streets, we thought
of a name to would represent our all of our designs and line. We thought in
everything that inspires us, like Marilyn, mythology, animation and the golden
age of Hollywood. Somehow we stood in front of a giant portrait of Andy
Warhol's Barbie. And at that time, The Blonds was born.
How did it all start?
Patricia Field ('stylist' for the series and movie Sex and the City 'and' The
Devil Wears Prada ') was the one who brought the idea for us to create a line.
Our work with her on projects like 'Sex and The City and Ugly Betty 'had such a
positive impact on us and we learned so much from her. She is a great counselor
and friend.
The organizers of the Puerto Rico High Fashion Week (PRHFW) have
